Treat yourself to some Audi Sport Quattro S1 bliss

SwedishRally providing contender for video of the month...

Throughout the history of the motorcar there have been machines that are considered iconic. However, that short list is further narrowed when considering the number of cars that their individual sound alone is iconic.

The Audi Sport Quattro S1 is undoubtedly one of those cars.

The turbocharged inline-5 engine provides one of the most memorable soundtracks in automotive history. Combined with the image of the white and yellow, boxy, wing-laden body skipping between trees and kicking up the dust, and you have something of a sensory overload.

SwedishRally filmed the car at what appears to be a short-rally, or even a test, at a twisty asphalt circuit.

The car skips over the slightly greasy surface, showing incredible grip as it pops and bangs on the downshifts.

Built during the legendary Group B era of international rally, a time when off-road racing was as popular as Formula One, the S1 was the final model born from the Quattro bloodline.

Boasting a whopping 600hp, the S1 is considered the most powerful car to ever compete during the memorable Group B period.

Despite this, the S1 struggled to live up to the results of it's high-achieving older siblings, the Quattro, and the A1 and A2 variations that racked up an impressive 21 World Rally wins combined.

But hey, no one remembers the results, we all remember that noise!
