Triumph has just dropped a huge bombshell – it's going to expand its range to include motocross and enduro bikes.

As well as being sold to the general public, the new range of bikes will provide the backbone for a factory race programme in both disciplines. To hit the ground running, Triumph has partnered with motocross (and stunt) legend Ricky Carmichael, as well as five-time Enduro World Champion Ivan Cervantes.

The pair of mud-plugging masters will help Triumph test and prep Triumph's upcoming motocross and enduro bikes – which will be announced in the coming months.

Nick Bloor, the CEO of Triumph, said: "Today's announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Triumph brand,
which everyone at Triumph is incredibly excited to be part of. We are 100% committed
to making a long-lasting impact in this highly competitive and demanding world, with a single-minded ambition to deliver a winning motorcycle line-up for a whole new
generation of Triumph riders."

  • I'm not so sure of this idea. Only because it's been dominated by some pretty well-known companies already. With the road bikes, I think their success has been based on a couple of factors or more. Name recognition, styling, and the fact that Harley and Indian are so damn expensive! I was very pleased when I heard Triumph was coming back. Then the last 5 years or so I saw the highly stylized retro look they were committing to. Then of course I saw the prices of the bikes I was interested in, Harley's Heritage Softail and the Indian Springfield Dark Horse. OUCH!

Now I admit I have not ridden a dirt bike in 40 years, but if I did I know that there are awesome bikes already out there. Eh, who knows, maybe this will turn to gold for them also. ;)
