Triumph has just teased its first bike reveal of 2021 – a brand-new Speed Triple 1200 RS.
Facts are thin on the ground – Triumph has simply released a teaser video and a few murky photos – but we'll find out all when the bike is fully unveiled on 26 January.
M motif stands for 'massive wheelies', presumably
Clearly the bike will be getting either a new engine or a heavily reworked version of the decades-old 1,050cc lump, with a capacity boost to around 1,200 cc. While the current Speed Triple 1050's lump is blessed with excellent mid-range wallop, it's fallen some way behind the peak power figures and mildly terrifying character of its competitors. This has led to the Speed Triple existing almost in a class of its own, below the likes of the KTM Superduke 1290 and Aprilia Tuono V4.
The headlights are stabbier and altogether pointier than on the outgoing Speed Triple
Will the new 1200 RS put Triumph back in the power game? We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, feast your ears on the teaser video below, and see what you can make of the photos on this page. The new engine certainly sounds a lot revvier than the old one… will we see a short-stroke triple with a 13,000rpm redline? We can dream…

For someone who knows absolutely nothing about bikes, I can confirm this looks....just like Triumph’s last one.
I'd like to see how the new one looks compared to the previous generation
Triumph continues to impress me with the bikes they now produce. I hope for their continued success!
Can't frigging wait
