Tuned 2020 Supra Runs Quarter Mile Quicker Than Hellcat Challenger
It was only a matter of time before we saw what the A90 Supra was capable of with a simple ECU tune and downpipe and the team at That Racing Channel wasted no time hitting the track. Their A90 Supra picked up impressive gains on the dyno but its track performance is what stuck out.
If all out speed isn't your thing, there's a manual Supra on the way!
In the name of science That Racing Channel had a stock Supra to run against their tuned car to see what a 100hp means. After several runs, the tuned Supra was constantly a second and a half faster running down the track, an eternity on a drag strip.
The tuned Supra ran the quarter in 11.4 seconds on one of its best runs trapping at 118 miles per hour. For context a stock Mustang GT350 runs around a 12.4 second quarter and a Hellcat Challenger automatic typically runs an 11.7 second run.
In stock form this particular A90 Supra dyno'd at 342 horsepower and 388 lb-ft of torque. After the tune and downpipe, the A90 produced 442 horsepower and 477 lb-ft of torque adding 100 horsepower and 111 lb-ft.
These impressive gains are no surprise considering BMW tuners have seen similar results on BMWs using B58 engines like the Supra. These simple mods show that BMW and Toyota left a ton of car on the table playing into the tuning legend that is the Supra namesake.
