Turning petrol cars into electric ones
An entire automotive revolution in your garage
This week, I did a poll asking the question "Are electric cars the future?" and nearly 50% of respondents said yes, which isn't bad for a quite traditional and often purist motoring community like DriveTribe.
Whether or not you believe that electric cars will one day be the future of all motoring, they are certainly a fast growing market. New models like the Audi E-Tron allow us to directly compare age-old petrol technology with new and exciting electric technology, as various very rich and very powerful international carmakers sink more time, effort and money than ever before into exploring the possibilities and pushing the boundaries of electric tech.
It is also possible for gearheads to engage with these thrilling changes in the industry on a much smaller scale, as the videos below demonstrate. The first is a few years old and the second much more recent but both see a dedicated motoring enthusiast transform a normal petrol car into an EV. By hand. From scratch. It's quite amazing to watch.
Credit to John for bringing these fab videos to my attention.
