TVR have always been the odd child, their cars through the years have been exciting but never really sold in the numbers, more to the passionate enthusiasts. Much like Volvo owners, it takes a particular type of person to purchase one. But, with the new super coupé to be launched is set to return TVR to its glory. Les Edgar, chairman of TVR, said that 500 Launch Editions will be available. The car will be revealed at the Goodwood Revival this year which I believe is quite a fitting occasion to be honest, September, we await you.
Secret viewings have taken place to existing customers and apparently 400 deposits have already been made. That is truly spectacular!
The car will weigh a mere 1200kg with 400hp from it's 5.0 Litre V8, I do suspect this to be the same motor in the Mustang but perhaps a smaller block. As seen in the mechanical sketch above, the car retains the classic long-front, short-back as TVRs of age. The best part about it for me is it will be manual and rear wheel drive. Although I might never see this car on South African roads, I'm sure it is going to be one aesthetic masterpiece of the century.
