UK Mini production halted indefinitely due to chip shortage
Yet another car maker has been affected by a chip shortage
Mini's plant in Oxford has been suspended for three days due to an ongoing comupter chip shortage affecting car companies all over the world.
BMW has said its Cowley factory will not manufacture cars on Friday or on the Tuesday and Wednesday after the bank holiday weekend and it was not said when production would definitely take place again.
The plant employs 4,500 people and produces about 5,000 cars a week, all of which will have come to a halt.
Other companies beung hit by this chip shortage includes Jaguar Land Rover, Stellantis, Ford, GM, VW, and many more.
