Ultimate Sleeper! 10-second Subaru Forester. "The Toaster"
Scott's Forester, known as the Toaster, started off as a laugh, but you wont be laughing when you get chopped!
Scott from Ichiban, also known as Hightower, is recognisable to some from his appearances on the hit Youtube show, Mighty Car Mods. Their shop specialises in Subarus, both mechanical and performance work as well as spare parts. They often have shells, parts and spares lying around so one day they looked at a Forester shell sitting around and thought it would make for a good laugh to build shop car out of spare parts laying around, and "The Toaster" was born.
Like most cheap fun builds, The Toaster has kept progressing and is now a 10-second street car, proven by the fact it drove from Sydney to Cootamundra (over 200 miles) for the 2017 Motive DVD Drag Battle event.
For 2017 a 2.3L stroker engine was built and a Precision 6062 fitted. A mild set-up by the event standards but 600 whee horsepower is a lot for the little Forester. A STi 6-speed transfers the power to the drag radial tyres under the corners.
You can see here why Scott is called Hightower, and why the extra headroom of a Forester over a WRX comes in handy.
Although not over the top in the power and mods department, Scott is a gun on the tree at the strip and will leave you sleeping at the line. the simple set-up is also more consistent and easy to drive so in a heads up race, it can hold its own.
