Ultimate SUV drag race: Model X vs Urus vs AMG G63 vs Range Rover Sport SVR
Something you dont see everyday
It used to be the case that supercar and hyper car drag races caught our attention and caused fierce debates, well todays ( and likely this months) craziest drag race you will see is between 4 SUVs with over 2500hp between them.
The cheerful chaps over at Carwow took a Tesla Model X P100D, super bright green Lamborghini Urus, a Mercedes AMG G63 and a Range Rover Sport SVR, to automotive journalists favourite place in the UK the Bruntingthorpe airfield and did what they do best. You know a race is epic when a freaking Range Rover is the cheapest car on the gird.
The Urus has the most powerfull petrol egngine on the grid with a 4.0 twin-turbo V8 developing 641 horsepower, the G-Wagen also uses a 4.0 twin turbo V but does away with 'only' 577hp, last but not lesat is the Range Rover with 'just' 575hp. The Tesla meanwhile develops a mind twisting 772hp and a mountain for torque.
Quite unsuprisingly the Tesla builds decimates the rest, with the Urus coming in a far second, the G-63 and Range Rover coming some time after that too. Of course it's all done in the name of silly fun but if we were to be sticklers we would request the race to be repeated off-road where now doubt the G-63 and Range Rover would come much more into their own.
