Unpopular Opinion: The New S-Class is a Thing of Beauty and Better Looking than the Previous S-Class
And the French number plate is the cherry on top.
Yesterday I went to London, and whilst I was there, I stumbled acrossed this French plated S-Class. I thought to myself, it is damn pretty, I have no idea why people hate it so much, perhaps they haven't see it in the flesh. It was genuinely jaw-dropping.
In my opinion, the newly designed slim headlights and grille made the new S-Class is a lot more restrained, a lot more intellectual, a lot "classier", if you like. The old (W222) S-Class was always in your face no matter what angle you chose to see it from, it screamed power and superiority. No wonder it was favoured by every Russian billionaires, dictators and chauffeuring companies in London. I'm not saying the old S-Class is a bad-looking car because it just isn't. But, because we are getting so used to its in-your-face presence that it is refreshing to see a car that isn't in your face. I like it, I think the new S-Class is a pretty car, and dare I say, it's better looking than the old S-Class.
However, some people would argue as a result of this, it lacks its original image, which is telling the world, "I am better than you, I am more powerful than you, you're nothing". In a way, I agree because Mercedes-Benz was, and still is, the go-to car manufacture for the rich and powerful, high-end limos in particular. Therefore, it needs to have that powerful presence to match its powerful owner. The fact is however, the old S-Class is starting to show its age, and park alongside the new S-Class, you can't help but think to yourself, it's old now.
Overall, the new S-Class is not just prettier than the old car, but also way more tasteful too. So, bravo Mercedes.
