Unpopular opinion: Vauxhall is making the best looking cars in the industry

There's just something so fresh and crisp about Vauxhall's current design language

Something I never anticipated saying in 2021 is what I am about to write. As it's coming to the end of the year, I thought I would take a look back at some of the cars that have come out in the past 12 months to see what sort of year it has been for the automotive world – and as you can see, it isn't how I expected it to pan out.

I have come to the conclusion that Vauxhall is making the best looking cars at the moment and here's why I think so.

If you take a look at all the cars currently for sale from all the different manufacturers, a lot of them are taking an odd turn when it comes to design language. BMW keeps increasing the size of the grilles, Audi is adding lots of fake exhausts and Lexus's are too boxy. Some brands, however, are making some incredibly pretty cars including Genesis, Mazda, Hyundai, KIA, Volvo, and of course Vauxhall.

The reason I say Vauxhall is doing so well at the moment is mostly due to its previous tragic designs. I strongly believe they have not designed a good looking car since the seventh-generation Astra launched in 2015. The Adam was atrocious – especially when you look at the A-pillar... it's a dog's dinner of a design.

Anyway, the three cars I would like to highlight in this article are the new Astra hatchback, Mokka and Astra Sports Tourer. All these cars are incredibly crisp and fresh looking. They are not too boxy and not too overly designed. I think Vauxhall has really hit the nail on the head with the face of all its cars... I get 70s Dodge Charger vibes.

And I know for a fact I am not the only one who thinks this because just yesterday Top Gear announced the Mokka as the best looking car of 2021.

Do you like how current Vauxhalls look?

  • err should this not actually say Peugeot is designing the best Vauxhalls, bring back the days of Bedford Astramax's and Cavalier SRi130's and Astra GTE's
