Unsung Heroes In Motorsport

The Pit Lane. Where a thumbs up means "get the F&*K out of my box I've got another car coming down the pit lane".

They are the (largely) unsung heroes in motorsport. In GT racing the race doesn't start on a Sunday or a Saturday. For some of the biggest races in the world it starts the Monday before (delivering the cars and building the garage out) and only ends many hours after the ceremony on Sunday evening.

Throughout 2017 I'd like to share with you those who are connected to the motorsport industry but don't see the limelight they deserve. In this photo story it's the turn of guys and girls who wait and wait and wait for the few moments they are needed most: The Pit Crew.

"Twixt the optimist and pessimist. The difference is droll: The optimist sees the doughnut but the pessimist sees the hole"

A sign, A light, A sign and a light. A sign a light and a finger. A sign a light a finger and a big shouty guy on the radio saying "BOX BOX BOX"....

Tank Tape. Racing would be never be the same without it. Available in a range of colours, including black.

In this game rain does NOT stop play......

..No matter what the budget.

And if you're lucky, a pit stop comes with a free of charge gravel pit.

Where "how many people does it take to change a light bulb?" is a serious question.

And seeing first light feel's like the first time in your life.

A pit crew needs to be available morning...

..and night (And YES they got that back out on the track in less than two hours!!!!!)

A pit crew will always give the last push

In the hope that it'll all be worth it in the end.......
