US GP: Perez fastest again in FP3 from Sainz amid lap deletions
The Mexican was fastest again after lap deletions for title contenders.
Red Bull's Sergio Perez retained top spot in F1 US GP FP3 with teammate Max Verstappen third behind Ferrari's Carlos Sainz.
It was much improved run from Red Bull in FP3 of F1 US GP as they showed good pace after their Friday run against Mercedes. But track limits caught both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, as their best laps were deleted - where the Dutchman was quickest.
It kept Red Bull's Perez on top with a 1m3.701s lap with teammate Verstappen (1m34.912s) third behind Ferrari's Sainz (1m34.805s). McLaren's Lando Norris (1m34.945s) was fourth from Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas (1m34.988s).
The Finn caused a yellow flag for a spin, with Williams' George Russell doing the same. A late improvement from Mercedes' Hamilton (1m35.219s) helped him to be sixth in the end ahead of McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo (1m35.345s).
AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly (1m35.398s) was eighth after a better day from Friday, as Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was ninth from Alpine's Esteban Ocon in the Top 10 as Aston Martin's Sebastian Vettel was 11th from Williams' Russell.
Alfa Romeo duo of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi bunched up Williams' Nicholas Latifi in 13th and 15th respectively, with Aston Martin's Lance Stroll in 16th from Alpine's Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard sent his time to improve his long run pace.
Ahead of the F1 US GP FP3 session, it was revealed that Alonso would brand new power unit parts, dropping him to the back of the grid as it was his fourth of most. He also took his ninth exhaust of the season from the permissible eight.
AlphaTauri's Yuki Tsunoda was 18th from Haas pair of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin, where the Russian ended up 28s behind the pace-setter after both of his quick laps were deleted for track limits violation.
