Vanina Ickx, a 7 time Le Mans starter and former DTM series driver, will contest the hill climb to commemorate Belgian manufacturer Automobiles Gillet's 25th anniversary.
Ickx, daughter of Mr. Le Mans Jackie Ickx, will take on the US's most fearsome hill climb in a V-8 Maserati power machine, meant to invoke the company's heyday of the mid 2000s.
The team at Gillet are aiming to strip down an older version of the Vertigo, reducing weight and increasing horsepower to around 600 bhp. The goal for the team is to achieve a 1 to 1 power to weight ratio.
Ickx, for her part, is excited about her chance to take part in the historic hill climb and recently told Marshall Pruett, "It's an exceptional race. How could I refuse this opportunity!"
