The first images of the new Vauxhaul Corsa GSi have been revealed ahead of it's release this Autumn. Based on the standard 3-door Corsa, the GSi has a sporty appearance and a number of chassis modifications which make it a welcome edition to the peromance market, especially for those on a budget.

The exterior retains the classic Corsa image but it has been upgraded with attractive, sporty add-ons such as a larger honeycomb grille and air intakes, chrome details and exhaust and a sizeable rear spoiler. On the inside, the hatch is equipped with Recaro sports seats, a leather steering wheel and aluminium pedals. Of course, Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto connectivity are available as standard.

Built on the VXR chassis, the GSi offers the same incredible handling, confidence and grip that came with the renowned 210PS VXR. However, if owners are keen to optimise performance even further, light-weight alloy wheels, with 215/40 x 18 tyres, are a smart additional option.

And speaking of performance... the GSi is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine with 150PS and 220Nm of torque. This punchy turbo delivers a 0-60mph acceleration time of just 8.9 seconds and retains strong performance right through to its 128mph top speed! Impressively, just 220Nm of torque between 3,000 to 4,500rpm, linked up the GSi's short-ratio six-speed gearbox, allows the Corsa to accelaterate from 50-70mph in 5th gear in just 9.9 seconds!

In addition to it's cool, sporty looks and high performance, the GSi is also one of the models in Vauxhaulls latest Euro 6d-TEMP rollout as it offers a 47.1mpg combined fuel economy and C02 emissions from 139g/km.

The car should retail at around £19,000 when it goes on sale this autumn.

  • Here's why not.

  • I think it should be a government mandate that hot hatch makers start with a minimum 200 hp powerplant. Set the world on fire rather than gently messaging it. Cheers Aimee!

  • I can’t see this selling at all. Why would you buy this when you can get a Ford Fiesta ST-Line for cheaper?

    Great write up though! 👌

    • I agree. Though I do think the second hand ones will be popular with boy racer youths and modders 🤔 Cheers Louis!

    • Yeah that’s true, and it’s literally a standard Corsa in the VXR’s body, seeing as VXR is dead now. So boy racers might like remapping the engine and adding some go-faster stripes!

  • Nothing more than a rebadged, slower version of the Corsa VXR
