Vettel says 'ruthless' Leclerc compromised his race
After a 3rd place finish in Turkey, Vettel finishes P13 in Bahrain saying his teammate's 'ruthless' driving compromised his race almost from the start
At the restart, after Romain Grosjean's fiery crash, Vettel was 10th with his teammate 2 places behind in 12th. However the young driver from Monaco pushed his way past into turn 1 enraging the 4 time world champion.
Vettel stated over the team radio "and again he can't just do that, as if I wasn't there. It's the same as Austria". After the race Vettel further explained the incident.
"The first stint was really poor, at the start I think I lost a lot of ground because I got squeezed. I took extra care for the other car, and then I was compromised a lot" stated Vettel.
Vettel was on the hard tyres during his first stint which saw him drop as low as 18th place. This led him to describe the SF1000 as 'undriveable'. However the German stated his race pace improved once he pitted for mediums on Lap 20.
Vettel finished 13th in the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix
"After the first change in tyres it was OK, but the first set just never seemed to start working so it was very difficult" Vettel explained.
With a P13 finish in Bahrain, Sebastian Vettel sits 13th in the driver's standings, 9 points behind the Renault of Esteban Ocon, with two races to go before the end of the season and his departure to Racing Point for 2021.
