Video: Evolution of the F1 steering wheel

4w ago

I think it is fair to say that the Formula One steering wheel has gone through a fair amount of change over the years. The modern day steering wheel has an abundance of buttons that controls so much of the car. You can adjust aero and fuel mixture as you're going 200mph. Rewind back to '57 and Stirling Moss is gripping an aluminium steering wheel with wooden frame.

The fellows down at Donut Media have attained steering wheels across the ages and produced a beautiful little film showing the difference across the ages, where you can see the evolution of the features and styles before your very eyes.

  • Love the Stirling Moss one to be fair. Insane to think this is all he had to control the beast!
