The 250mph McLaren Speedtail caused quite a stir last week when it was officially unveiled to the world and its future owners. The Speedtail is the latest in McLaren's Ultimate Series line of cars which include the Senna, the legendary F1 and equally impressive P1.

As a quick recap, the Speedtail's production run will consist of 106 examples, all with a price of roughly $2.7 million, but this can vary from car to car depending how far customers want to go in terms of customisation. All Speedtail's will have a hybrid assisted V8 which is capable of producing 1035bhp.

The video clip comes from McLaren Newport Beach and the video shows us the Speedtail moving under its own power, leaving the McLaren factory in Woking. It may not be going at crazy speeds just yet but the V8 purs like a tiger.

The car certainly looks better in natural light, rather than the studio lighting used in the press photos. In the video, we see the front wheel hubs remain stationary when the car is moving and gives it a gliding effect.

Hopefully more videos and photos of the Speedtail come out in the next few months as the motor show calendar will start again in January with the Detroit and CES shows happening.

What do you think?

  • When I first saw pics I thought it looked stupid. Then I remembered the Senna and AMG One.

Now seeing this video I am absolutely smitten. What a wonderful thing!!! 😍😍😍

  • I really like it. It is very futuristic and yet, thanks the front wheelcovers, it looks like it belongs in the 1993 sci-fi movie 'Demolition Man'.
