A speeding pickup truck careened through an airport in Sarasota Florida early Thursday morning leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

According to Fox 13, the crash happened just before 3AM when the speeding GMC Sierra 1500 exploded through a wall and into the baggage claim area of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Surveillance cameras outside showed the truck speeding across a runway before crashing through the wall coming to rest just before the car rental counter. Employees behind the counter were able to move out of the way.

The male driver, 40-year old Juan Monsivis of Bradenton, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said the driver has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple DUI arrests as well as driving without a license.

  • Great return of a rental car. Did you fill up the tank prior to returning the vehicle?

  • I think the desk guy ordered something trough Amazon´s same day delivery at 11:59...

Glad the counter guys are ok, Still that desk is somewhat tough if it can withstand a 2 ton vehicle ramming it at 20kph, What is it made of even?
