Video: What's inside a Catalytic Converter?

As many of you will know, the catalytic converter has been compulsory in all cars since the 70s. Its main job is to reduce the emissions which your car produces.

In this photo, you can see the catalytic converter sits pretty central in the pipeline

Many people (as I'm sure you will know) often remove the catalytic converter from their car to create more noise. While, this is slightly illegal, many car manufacturers fit sports or high flow cats to cars which are legal and create a similar effect.

Sports cats are thinner diameter and have a smoother surface, allowing the gases to flow smoother to the great outdoors which in turn, allows your engine to breathe more freely.

This video will explain in more detail about how the catalytic converter works:

Would you/or have you ever decatted a car?
