Video: Yesterday it literally rained money on a highway in New Jersey

Drivers scrambled to scoop up stray cash after Brinks truck accident

Christmas came early for a few opportunistic New Jersey natives yesterday, when cash spilled out of an armoured Brinks truck while it was travelling along a highway.

Footage shows the chaos caused by the incident with drivers stopping in the middle of the road to snap up some of the cash that littered the highway. It's believed the rear doors of the Brinks truck swung open unexpectedly at motorway speed, spilling an as yet unconfirmed sum of money onto the road. The local police have released a statement thanking those who actually returned the money they picked up, and condemning others who kept what they found. It's believed that several crashes were subsequently caused by people abandoning their vehicles amid the mad cash grab.

  • Grabbing the cash is the same as robbing a bank, just saying.

  • I'm from Delaware, so it's nice to see something fairly local on here.

  • I would keep it. Not my fault that I found some money laying around.
