I'm still buzzing from this years combined trip down south to VMax200 and Rob's annual Countach Lunch.
We travelled the 200 miles down to Vmax on the Saturday morning arriving around 11am, with rain still falling. It had been a pretty event free trip, stopping for fuel once and retaining a comfortable if deafening pace down a surprisingly empty A1.
Now, driving a mid 80s 5 litre V12 on unfeasibly wide tyres in horizontal rain isn't the easiest of tasks, but with well over 20,000 miles under by belt in #Blasst over the past 5 years it was perfectly painless, just remember that brake technology has progressed significantly over the past 30 years.
Old Skool Cool as viewed by the new kid on the block
As we enter the airfield an amazingly loud Aventador performs a fly-by of the old girl as we drive to the launch pad to sign-on. The Aventador is the Grand-daughter of the Countach and you can see her aggressive beauty has been passed down, if a little overweight at the rear. I blame Kim Kardashian.
After sign-on we watch a few M4s and GTRs pull 360s off the line with a loss in grip and and that amazingly loud Aventador charge up the track. Whilst waiting for the rain to stop and watching the pair of 1-77 Aston's blast up the runway, I spotted the F40 pull up. I was immediately back to being a teenager again and had to pull the two 80s poster cars together for a few shots.
After a bit of banter with the owner and the photographers we decided to pull off an old skool drag race and did a few runs up the runway.
F40 v Countach
I then spotted the Lightening had been pulled out of it's hanger, so a must have shot. just wish I had more than an iPhone to take my pics. Thankfully some of the pros have stated to post good shots up of both cars together over the past few days.
Another Wing Competition. Think I'll give this one to the Lightening
