Volkswagen is recalling 27,000 cars over airbag fault
Do you own a 2015 or 2016 Volkswagen CC? If you answered yes, you might want to read this before driving your car again.
According to reports, VW has been informed of a defect with computers in their 2015-2016MY CCs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that 27,000 VW CCs may have malfunctioning computers to the effect of having airbags not deploy during a crash.
The recall affects all 27,822 CCs during the effected MYs. But it's not just the CCs that are effected. It's CCs and Tiguans, the latter being a much more popular model which has been sold in a far higher quantity.
Accoring to Car Buzz, "These specific Tiguans were built between March 12, 2015 and December 19 2015, and the CCs from May 6, 2015 through December 7 2015."
VW says that less than 1 per cent of all VWs being recalled will have the defect.
In some instances VW said that the airbags might deploy at random, not during a crash. Either way, if you have these cars you should be on the lookout for a recall notice. Or simply call your dealer and have them do a recall service as soon as possible.
