Volkswagen T-Roc and T-Cross go on sale in Oz
VOLKSWAGEN’s long awaited T-Roc and T-Cross SUV models will go on sale this week across Australia, and can be pre-ordered online from Thursday morning ahead of its showroom arrival in April.
The T-Cross represents both the entry point and the completion of Volkswagen’s SUV range, which now runs from this urban oriented model, through to the T-Roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace and Touareg ranges.
The range leading T-Cross 110 TSI is expected to be the standout in its multi-model range, and will sport a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 110kW and 250Nm, sending power through a 7-speed DSG and front wheel drive.
Joining it will be the T-Roc 140 TSI Sport, the premium variant of Volkswagen’s smaller SUV range. The range-leading T-Roc is powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that puts out 140kW and 320Nm via a 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive.
The Volkswagen T-Roc 140 TSI Sport starts at $40,490 plus on-roads, and will feature a multitude of driver assistance and safety packages, such as city emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
It also scores, lane assist with adaptive lane guidance, blind spot monitoring with rear traffic assist, and traffic jam and emergency assist. Styling and comfort have not been missed either with both variants getting an optional R-line package.
This includes dark tinted rear side and rear windows, 18-inch Sebring alloys with sports suspension, front centre armrest, LED interior ambient lighting, floor mats and chrome roof rails.
In the infotainment and technology department, the T-Roc and T-Cross will feature a full digital cockpit, with dual zone climate control air conditioning, discover media 8-inch navigation and app-connect, and a leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles.
Also standard is key-less access and power folding door mirrors. There will be a number of enhancement packages available across both models too, including a sound and style package.
This adds 19-inch Suzuka alloys, adaptive chassis control and a 300W Beats premium sound system. A luxury package will see further additions like a panoramic glass sunroof, Vienna leather upholstery and electrically operated tailgate.
The Volkswagen T-Roc X, a special limited edition of 200 cars created to recognise Volkswagen’s decade as a major partner of the Sydney Swans, is available either as a predominantly white car with a red roof, or a red car with black roof and trim.
Both the T-Roc and T-Cross will feature a number of cool colours, including Pure White, Flash Red, Atlantic Blue, Indium Grey, White Silver and Deep Black Pearl. Pricing will start from $27,990 for the 85 TSI Life T-Cross and $40,490 for the 140 TSI Sport T-Roc.
The T-Roc and T-Cross compact SUV will be on display to the public at the Volksfest event in Brisbane on 16 February.
