After the São Paulo International Motor Show we finally know what the baby pickup looks like. Volkswagen introduced a fresh-faced baby double-cab pickup that will be positioned just below the Amarok.

Volkswagen's plan with this model is simply to boots its model range in other global markets. Furthermore, Volkswagen stated that it is certain that a production version of the Tarok concept will soon be offered in Brazil, and with barely any changes!

The Tarok’s DNA adds an exhilarating dynamic to the segment

Klaus Bischoff - head designer at Volkswagen

The Tarok pickup concept will be powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder TSI engine. This engine will be able to produce 110 kW via a six-speed automatic transmission. However, Carmag claims that the production models will start out with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel unit also producing 110 kW.

Klaus Bishoff, the head designer at Volkswagen, stated that "with its striking targa-inspired roof bar, charismatic front end, three-dimensional LED lighting strip in the rear, and powerful yet stylish side panels, the Tarok concept’s expressive design makes it the first pick-up to combine the stylistic elements of an urban SUV with an authentic off-road design”.

    • Yes. Actually there is a big market for medium size pickups in Brazil. VW has a medium size to compete against Chevy, Ford, Toyota and others.
