Volkswagen to Enter the Pikes Peak Hillclimb with This Beauty of an Electric Car
The German manufacturer attempts to regain racing glory in the aftermath of the 'Diesel Scandal'
Despite owning half of the motoring universe with brands like Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini under their tent, Volkswagen has struggled, in recent years, to regain its image following the 2015 revelation that their eco-diesel line of cars was anything but.
The German outfit, however, has come out swinging in 2017 with their first on-brand foray into racing since pulling out of the WRC.
Released with the cryptic image above, Volkswagen announced this week that they not only intend to enter the 2018 Pike's Peak Hill Climb with a brand new, all electric, four wheel drive car, but that they mean to beat the sub 9 minute record by an electric vehicle.
Details on the project are being kept under wraps at the moment, but the move coincides with VW's increased emphasis on electric vehicles.
With no stats, or any other pictures for that matter, we are left only to imagine what type of luck VW will find come June of next year but if that picture is any indicator, the car will certainly be a looker.
