Volkswagen to stop making combustion engines.

      First Dieselgate, then this?!

The whole dieselgate scandal may have given an incentive for VW to change to electric motors as soon as possible but still, this is quite a shocker!

The chief of strategy for the company said that their last generation of combustion engines (diesel and petrol) will roll off the VW line in 2026 which is 8 years away! Though VW did say that they will continue to tune those engines so they can comply with environmental regulations throughout the life of the vehicles.

Apparently this whole move has been to help achieve the targets set out by the Paris climate accord as VW are looking to shift their focus to electric vehicles and cut down the carbon emissions from the production of their cars.

      More details to come.

      • We need to improve our electric network first if we want electric cars. If everyone starts charge his car the network wold collapse.

        • Agreed. Electric cars are stupid until if we aren't able to produce enough electricity from ecologycal sources.

        • You’re wrong. Most people charge their cars at home at night when the electric grid is at its lowest usage. The grid as-is could handle the load if everyone switched to electric cars immediately.

      • I wouldn't mind if VW will stop to make the cars altogether.
