All that power comes from Volvo’s own 2.0-litre four-pot motor which drives the front wheels only. The rear wheels are driven by twin-electric motors giving this coupe a colossal 738lb-ft of torque meaning a ton of pulling power with all-wheel-drive grip. The ‘1 will also have an electric-only range of 93 miles which is more than any other hybrid on the market.
The ‘1’ has a carbon-fibre body which helps reduce weight and improves stiffness by 45% while lowering the centre of gravity. To complete the handling set-up, it is the first car to be equipped with Öhlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi).
