VOTE: RICCIARDO TO RENAULT - RIGHT CHOICE OR BAD CALL?
Let us know what you think about Renault's shock signing!
If you think F1 actually stops for the summer then you'd be wrong. Today's news certainly proved this.
If you've been under a rock and don't know, Daniel Ricciardo announced that he is leaving Red Bull and moving to Renault for the 2019 season.
For Renault, this is a big scoop. They have the best character in F1 driving for them, who has shown he can win races and overtake well.
For Ricciardo, this is a chance to move away from Verstappen who could have ruined his chances of being a world champion one day. It also suggests a lack of faith from Ricciardo in Honda's ability to turn around their engines by next season.
Is it the right call? Let us know and vote below!

Both answers are a bit to extreme. Daniel ought to be driving for Ferrari or Mercedes, but neither one was an option. I think Toro Rosso has shown that Honda deserves more credit than what we saw in McLaren, but I don't see it as a contender against Ferrari or Mercedes Power. Considering the gap that Renault has closed on Red Bull this season I have to think it will be the better place to be in 2019, so yes of the possible moves, it's the best choice. Staying at Red Bull with them loosing ground to Renault, and bringing in Honda would be a risky gamble. That said I do worry Ricciardo could be another Alonso, wasting his talent in the wrong places at the wrong time. Of course everyone thought Lewis was crazy to leave McLaren to go to Mercedes, and now we know it was a perfectly timed insightful move. Could Daniel have some similar insight into some advances at Renault? They do know a thing or two about winning championships?
It depends on things what we don't see on tv during grand prix. A budget for running the team on the highest level, strategists and engineers in the factory ...etc. I think Dani knows about it more than we do.
Seems obvious to me, right now Red Bull is clearly in a downward trend. They ( Red Bull) are who is actually leading the so-called “B” championship. Renault on the other hand has been reported to be getting better year after year. They are a team in the ascendancy and will most likely replace Red Bull as third within a year or two.
I am surprised that the other big 2 being Mercedes and Ferrari have not taken the opportunity. Especially for Ferrari.... Daniel' s Dad owns several Ferrari's including an F40... But that aside on his own merits Daniel in the correct car is certainly F1..WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL!!!
Right move. Renault is getting stronger and stronger and Dan is not a youngster anymore(in F1 terms). Since Ferrari and Mercedes are no options anymore Renault is clearly the place to be if Dan wants anything else than a few wins per year combined with the Honda engine.
