Volkswagen Part No. 199 398 500 A is a best seller so why is production stopping?
It may surprise you to know that Volkswagen's most popular product is not a car, or even a component of a car. Part No. 199 398 500 A is in fact a sausage. Yes, you heard that right, it's a curry flavoured sausage! A 30 strong team use locally sourced pork to produce the sausages at the company's Wolfsburg factory. Despite the Currybockwurst being a firm favourite with both staff and visitors, production is to cease. Even our very own Richard Hammond sampled the spicy German sausage!
Now if you find it strange that a car manufacturer would sell large quantities of sausage then you'll find the reason for its discontinuation even odder. The vehicle manufacturer, which is still feeling the impact of the dieselgate scandal are actually citing environmental concerns for their decision to cancel the curried sausage. Statistics suggest that global meat and dairy production are responsible for about 14 percent of all carbon emissions; higher than the figure quoted for vehicle production and use! So there you have it, you can now offset the carbon emissions from your V8 by ditching meat and dairy! In the meantime, if you want to sample the famous Part No. 199 398 500 A you'll need to book yourself on the Wolfsburg factory tour and stop by the canteen before Currybockwurst leaves the menu in 2025. Alternatively the delicacy is available from a small number of select retailers. They can be found here in the UK.

But plants can only take in so much just like you can eat only so much. When you make 1000% more required, it doesn't just disappear.
