After crawling out of Flagstaff we hauled ass west to Joshua Tree. Because we were short on time we took I-40 to join Route 66 near the Mojave National Preserve. The Mach was chewing up the desert road trying to get us there before dark.
We missed the sunset by an hour so we headed to the Joshua Tree Saloon. The Saloon is an old favorite in JTree. Good food, great bar, live music, and a live crowd. Just don't say we didn't warn you about karaoke night.
With some newfound energy we convinced ourselves that tonight was the night to test the new camera. There is something special about being out in the desert at 2am under the stars. There is a deep sense of calm unlike anywhere else. We were taking long exposure shots, some with the Mach, some without, when a VW camper van comes over the hill and across our shot. We didn't know what to expect but I think we got the shot... or maybe once again the shots got us.
