Want to help sponsor a Racecar?
He tried to stay Netural, was forced to pick a side and now he has no funding...
Backstory...
Brandon Brown is an American race car driver in NASCAR's second highest division, the Xfinity Series, Who drives for his family's team, BrandonBuilt Motorsports. Last Fall he won his first career race at talladega as darkness fell, Unfortunately for him and the team it would be remembered for a very different reason.
How It started.
So by now we have all heard it- "Let's Go Brandon!" The Anti- Biden phrase coined by NBC reporter Kelli Stavast when the crowd was clearly chanting "F*** Joe Biden. Unfortunately the one person caught up in the Middle of this was the driver himself, Brandon Brown and his family-owned team, Brandonbuilt Motorsports. Because of this, Many Companies have not been willing to sponsor him or the team, as they see him and his team as "too polarizing"... Until recently Brandon had tried to remain as Neutral as possible throughout this sequence, stating that "I have always preferred the roar of the engine to the roar of my voice". and that "I have no interest in leading some political fight. I race cars. I am not going to endorse anyone, and I am certainly not going to tell anyone how to vote."
The Problem...
Unfortunately Corporate America doesn't seem to care and funding has all but dried up for the small, independent team. Now if this were a larger team, it wouldn't be anywhere as much as an issue. Look at Last year, Rick Hendrick sponsored his driver, Kyle Larson out of pocket through his nationwide dealership line of Hendrick cars and Hendrickcars.com But that's because he can, Rick has a net worth of $1 billion and can afford to do that, and its safe to say that the browns can't. And in order to find funding, Brandon (and the team) had to choose a side. Unfortunately, this is where the real problem comes in...
THE controversy.
On New Years Eve, 2021 The team was believed to have found a sponsor (albeit a shady one) in LGBcoin.io, a meme crypto similar to dogecoin that was started from the initial incident with LGB standing for you guessed it- Let's Go Brandon. And that sketchy as it may seem (think rich energy) it would be allowed to race. However, Hours after the initial announcement, it came out that NASCAR had not approved the sponsor, even though the team had claimed they had. This lead to what i can only assume were very heated backroom conferences among the higher ups at NASCAR. Finally Yesterday (1/4/21) the final ruling came out that No, the car won't be able to run. This puts the team in an even worse spot than before as Again they have no sponsor, but have now clearly taken a side of the argument, and one that many big businesses won't like to be associated with. BrandonBuilt has come close to shutting down in the past due to a lack of funding, and with the season merely a month away, it appears that it might happen, for real this time
My Solution...
Let's Crowd fund his car and team, if we can all pool enough money together we might be able to get Drivetribe on the car as a sponsor... if not, individual donations can be made as well through the Gofundme and team partner pages below.
