Was Clarkson right about the MG SV having a 1000bhp Nitrous Oxide kit?

It's a myth that has been associated with this car for far too long

Do you remember MG's supercar from 2004, called the MG SV? Well I managed to get my hands on one to dispel the myth that was once uttered on Top Gear via Jeremy Clarkson. Did this brute of a car actually come with a 1000bhp Nitrous Oxide kit? Let's find out...

  • I hated this car since it’s inception (looks horrendous in my eyes), it’s a mishmash of other manufacturers parts with a Ford V8. MG’s were never that reliable anyway let alone them assembling a car and strapping a nitrous kit to it.

Those were the days that MG added some aftermarket crap to cars that were at least a generation behind their competition (old rovers which themselves were old hondas) and passed them off as new.

Torch it, if not the nitrous kit will do the job!

  • The front end still reminds me of cross between an older Audi TT and early 2000s Dodge Status. Also, powder blue should not be allowed on cars.

  • Clusterfuck of parts but it’s so outrageous that I love this car. Not necessarily good looking but damn it’s striking and I love that.

  • Having worked for quite possibly the longest running rover dealer (if not motor dealership) until its demise I have to say ibloody loved this car. Yes it had TF door handles, 25 wing mirrors, 75 switch pack inside and a Fiat punto headlights but I think it just looked epic. We had a trophy blue one with carbon gills and the mahoosive wing and it just made a presence anywhere it went. Yes this was the final nail in the coffin for MG-Rover but what a nail it was (if somewhat under powered given the size of the engine)
