Watch: Audi's RS e-tron GT hits top speed on the Autobahn

Ahhhhhh silence...

It is no secret that electric cars are quick. The torque one experiences from them is quite frankly mind-boggling, making it no surprise that Audi's latest EV is incredibly fast.

The YouTube channel Automann-TV has decided to test out the top speed of the RS e-tron GT by taking it on the German Autobahn for a bit of a bashing.

With Audi's 'boost' function enabled, the RS e-tron GT can propel itself from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds while its top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph),.

The car is powered by a dual-motor set-up and 86 kWh battery which generates 637 HP and 612 lb-ft of torque. The lesser (non RS) model produces 522 HP and 472 lb-ft and takes 3.9 seconds to reach 60 mph and a tp speed of 152 mph.

  • Is it me or have Audi managed to make the electric motors sound slightly V8 sounding on acceleration as I was really surprised it had a sound and I am not one for electric cars.

    • Comes from the speakers. I believe even some ICE cars do the same to make them sound more powerful.

    • I know the VW UP has that fitted but my SEAT hasn't so when you do get it past 3000rpm it does sound good for a 1.2 turbo petrol engine.
