Watch Chris Harris go into his car heaven
We love Chris Harris. He's the only good presenter left on Top Gear and also happens to be one of the most respected automotive journalists in the world. He was partly the reason why I took up writing on DriveTribe.
A video was uploaded today on the Top Gear YouTube channel where he visits a stunning collection of cars which will be going under the auction hammer soon, by RM Sotheby's. The collection has about 130 cars in it ranging from the 1970s up to the early 2000s, which means there are some serious cars in this collection.
DriveTribe's very own quizmaster, James King recently covered one of the more interesting cars in this collection. The 1979 Mercedes 500 TE AMG wagon is the granddaddy of fast Mercedes estate cars and it is truly amazing. If you want to read his article on it, check it out here.
Chris Harris didn't cover the entire collection as that would take hours to cover, instead of this bite sized 12 minute long video. What amazes me is the sheer diversity in this collection. You have everything from Alpina, Mercedes, Porsche's and even things like Lagonda.
He seems to be in his own version car heaven with him gushing over 1980s Alpina and BMWs (can't blame him) and lusting over Mercedes's of similar vintage. The video is well worth a watch if you have 12 minutes of your life to spare. It's a good way to spend 12 minutes of your life.
However, if you want to look at the full collection, I've left a handy link to the lots, of which there are 99 of them listed on the website. There are some truly stunning and rare cars up for grabs so be prepared to get your bank card ready.
And if you want to buy one of these cars, the RM Sotheby's Essen auction is on April 11th – 12th 2019, where all of these cars will be under the hammer.
What one do you want?
Leave me a comment down below with what you'd buy from this collection. If I were going to bid on one, there is a lovely Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC AMG that I really like the look of.
