Watch: Drivers in Kentucky have no idea how to use their new roundabout

It's like watching mice play around in a cage.

Roundabouts aren't commonplace in the United States, especially in rural areas. It's pretty safe to say not many motorists from Rowan County, Kentucky know how navigate one.

Drone footage shared to Reddit recently depicts confused country Americans attempting to cross the foreign intersection, with cars entering and exiting from all-bound lanes, creating chaos with motorists crossing onto the wrong side of the road and going around the roundabout in the wrong direction.

As one driver makes a mistake, a handful of motorists behind follow suit and hope the car in front knows what they're doing, when in reality - it seems that barely anyone knows what they're doing. Some well-travelled individuals however manage to pass through the roundabout without an issue.

The roundabout replaces a dangerous intersection in Kentucky's Northeast, where an increase in collisions brought about a need for reconsideration. Hopefully it doesn't take locals too long to figure out how to navigate it. We can only suggest watching a mirrored video of how it's done in the UK and Australia.

  • Roundabouts are dumb. Keep that in europe.

    • They are not. They do work if you explain them to people. Less maintenance than any traffic light. Less problems than any other type of crossing. IF you explain them first - if they are uncommon.

    • No, they're worse. You can't cruise through it like you can with a green light, so it will invariably make your drive take longer.
