Watch: Fernando Alonso flips Toyota during the 10th stage of Dakar Rally
Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso came a cropper during the tenth stage of the 2020 Dakar Rally, rolling his Toyota Hilux down a large dune.
Reports suggest that the Spaniard, who's making his debut in the iconic rally enduro, and teammate Marc Coma were only a couple of kilometres into the stage when the incident occurred.
The Hilux can be seen travelling quickly towards the dune, where fans and photographers await the arrival of the 32-time Grand Prix winner. However, despite the immediate obstacle ahead, the truck appears to lose little speed at the base incline.
The footage slows down perfectly as the "oh s***" moment occurs, and the duo go sideways over the crest of the dune.
Alonso's Hilux lands initially on its right-hand side before rolling down the rest of the steep slope, kicking up a cloud of Saudi Arabian sand.
After cascading down the bank, Alonso and Coma land on their wheels. A nearby punter removes a broken piece of metal from the front of the car, and despite the smashed windshield, the Hilux fires up and blasts away.
It has been reported that the duo have removed the truck's windscreen and have continued without any outside assistance.
Alonso and Coma started the day's stage in 10th place overall, well over three hours behind Rally leader Carlos Sainz Snr., but with this incident the pair will have no doubt dropped further behind.
Neither driver nor any spectators were injured in the incident.
