Watch: McLaren's 765LT leaves Ferrari F8 Tributo for dead
The 765LT is on another planet when it comes to drag racing.
The Ferrari F8 Tributo is a fast car. 710 horsepower and 770 newton metres of torque from the 488 Pista's 3.9 litre twin turbo V8, Ferrari describes the F8 as "an homage to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history." Upon release in 2019, it was the most powerful V8 engine ever produced by Ferrari, surpassed only by the more recent SF90 Stradale hypercar's 760hp V8.
With all that power comes a 0-100km/h time of just 2.9 seconds on paper, but even that makes it no match for McLaren's recently released 765LT. By comparison, the 765LT has just 45 added horses and 30 more newton metres of torque, enough to propel it from 0-100km/h in a claimed 2.8 seconds, just 0.1 seconds faster than the Ferrari. That doesn't sound like a lot on paper, but watch the video below to see just how much faster the McLaren actually is.
As it turns out, real world benchmarks have dyno'd the McLaren's engine to be producing closer to 900hp at the crank, with again real world tests clocking 0-100km/h runs down to 2.1 seconds. It's no surprise then that the 765LT absolutely decimates Ferrari's offering down the drag strip.
