Watch: New Defender gets rolled filming for upcoming Bond film
The all-new Land Rover Defender may or may not appeal to enthusiasts of the original Defender, however, there is no debate over its off-road capabilities. It's built to conquer the roughest of terrain and it will have a starring role in the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die. The tease posted by Land Rover below demonstrates the unstoppable nature of the rugged off-roader and gives us a glimpse into the scenes we are to expect in the film.
A showroom Defender will be just as capable
If you slow down the video's speed at 0:26, you can witness the vehicle tilting to the right to a degree which would prevent any course correction. Whilst not entirely shown, it is beyond certain that the vehicle flipped over.
Land Rover has been collaborating with the film's directors for over a year now in to create some astonishing scenes. Stunt driver Jess Hawkins stated that the vehicle is "pretty much standard as it would be out of the factory", meaning that this is no special prototype designed to fool the audience over the vehicle's capabilities. However, racing seats and a roll cage do appear to be installed for safety reasons. Still not convinced over a fun the new Defender can be? Hawkins concluded with "I'd do this everyday if I could".
Why the new Defender?
The film's stunt coordinator, Lee Morrison, stated "we knew [Bond] was gonna try and achieve something off-road. Straight away it had to be the new Defender which everybody's been eagerly waiting for". It is safe to say that Land Rover's latest creation has been one of the most anticipated cars of the decade and it will certainly capture the attention of motoring enthusiasts on the big screen. Not to mention, it is an awesome vehicle for an MI6 agent or a set of high-class antagonists; whichever party ends up driving the vehicle.
