Watch: Santino Ferrucci's deliberate crash
Should Ferrucci be fired or is a ban enough? Have your say
It is fair to say there is no love lost between the Trident pairing of Arjun Maini and Santino Ferrucci, but the drama between the two came to a head this weekend at in Britain, with severe consequences.
You could be forgiven for thinking the American driver had gone into self destruct, accruing penalties ranging from careless oversights to down right dangerous. The first of his violations came as he was found to have driven from the support paddock to the pit lane wearing one glove and carrying his mobile phone. This seen him handed a €6000 fine.
Having been found to have forced his teammate off the road during the sprint race on Sunday as Maini made a move for position, Ferrucci then purposefully made contact with he Indian driver on the cool down lap.
For this, Ferrucci was handed a hefty €60,000 fine and a four race ban so will, resultantly, be forced to sit out Hungary and Belgium.
He failed to attend the stewards hearings, instead choosing to defend his case on social media. In a series of tweets which have subsequently been deleted, Ferrucci retaliated by criticising Maini in relation to an emotional radio outburst from earlier in the season.
The team overseeing both drivers, Trident, issued a statement in full support of Maini, suggesting that the incident on Sunday was the culmination of other events directed against the Indian driver by both Ferrucci and his father, apologising fully.

Haas F1 boss, Gunther Steiner, is now also reviewing the youngster's position within the team. Taken on in a development capacity, it was thought by many that Ferrucci was part of a plan to have an American driver in an American seat in Formula 1. This plan looks set to be scrapped as Steiner is set to make a decision on Ferrucci's position this week.

banned, he thinks too highly of himself, above the law etc. With that mentality he will be a danger to other drivers.
Spoiled little rich kid should be banned from international motorsports.
There is talk of him possibly getting a seat in the states!
Did you see his IndyCar debut earlier this season? He won’t last long there either.
What a complete imbecile. Get that weasel a life ban please.
Very disappointed in this kid. Having said that - he aint ready for prime time. F2/Indy results have been less than impressive.
Oh well, may never get an American in the so called American team".
It is really disappointing. Any ideas as to who the next American on the scene will be?
Joseph Newgarden says he wants to race in f1. I don't think he would be world champion, but he is doing very well in indycar.
This is exactly the sort of things that precipitate a negative American stereotype. This moron just makes it that much harder for other Americans to be respected and or get a seat in f1. He should be banned
Agreed! What a little tosser.
