Watch the Lamborghini Urus storm from 0-190mph
It may be an SUV, but you’d have to be in a supercar in order to outrun the Lamborghini Urus. With a 4L Twin-Turbo V8 pushing 641bhp to all 4 wheels, it can leap off the line in a manner that defies the 4850lb (2200kg) bulk. But the big question still remains to be answered: is all that power enough to make the Urus the world’s fastest SUV?
At the moment, it’s Bentley who claims to hold the title of world’s fastest SUV with their Bentayga W12 and its top speed of 187mph. While tuned SUVs have gone faster in the past - with the Brabus GLK V12 reaching over 200mph - the Bentayga is the fastest un-enhanced SUV around. Really and truly, that’s the Lamborghini’s target.
In the below video, we can see an Urus go hell for leather in a straight line in an attempt to go as fast as possible. While the run is ultimately about getting close to the car’s top speed, it also shows the acceleration, which itself is tremendously impressive. With 0-60mph taking under 3.4 seconds, it makes you pinch yourself that this is a big SUV.
After achieve a 1/4 mile time of 11.37 seconds, the Urus carries on accelerating until it runs out of road - by which point, it was travelling at 190mph. Given enough space, it really does make you wonder just how much faster the Urus could push. While it isn’t a car I personally can feel any warmth towards, it’s impossible to deny how impressive it is.
