The zero-emissions Porsche made a journey to the US just two days before its reveal for a rather unconventional test. To show off the acceleration and braking of its hotly anticipated new car, Porsche sent it onto an aircraft carrier. They released a video of the event, shown below.

Not just any aircraft carrier, either. The company chose the USS Hornet, a 27,500-ton ship that was used to recover the astronauts from the Apollo 11 and 12 space missions. Porsche chose professional racer Shea Holbrook to pilot the Taycan.

Holbrook put the launch control to good use, reaching 90.58 mph in only 422 feet, and then stomped on the brakes. The carbon-ceramic brakes brought the vehicle to a stop less than 100 feet from the end of the flight deck. The entire test took just 10.17 seconds.

The Taycan will debut on September 4th. It'll be premiered simultaneously in Germany, China, and Canada, and this event will be livestreamed by Porsche. The Taycan is the fastest four-door sedan at the Nurburgring, and there's a lot of anticipation for its launch.
