WATCH: This car started itself up because it was on fire
This is not what they had in mind with the 'self-driving cars' idea...
Self-driving cars are becoming more and more popular due to the rise of Tesla. However, the car you are going to see below is not a self-driving Tesla; it is a self-driving Mini.
"But wait! There is no such thing as a self-driving Mini!"
That's true, but the reason why this Mini is driving itself is totally bizzare. On 25th December 2019, a man walked outside to find a Mini on the other side of the road that had burst into flames.
Image taken from the YouTube video uploaded by 'ViralHog'. (Sorry for poor quality, the video was taken in portrait.)
The fire was underneath the bonnet, and had spread through the gaps between the bonnet and the glass windscreen. The fire had spread to the engine, thus starting it up. Due to the car being in 1st gear, it started moving forward before hitting the poor car in front of it.
You can hear the ignition trying to start up the engine as the car starts to roll forward and into the back of the car in front of it. The spectators could do nothing but phone the firebrigade and watch as it was too dangerous to approach it.
Almost 3 minutes into the video; the police arrive and approach the vehicle - which was burning more and more. The vehicle starts to pop and bang as components within explode, and the officers back away and stop people from coming down the road.
The video was filmed in Ljubljana, Slovenia; and must be the most frustrating thing to happen on Christmas Day. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
