Watch this F150 run supercar-level quarter miles

The supercharged drag truck gets down the quarter mile in 9.23 seconds

Ford trucks have a long history with drag racing. The original F150 SVT Lightning came from the era of powerful trucks, and it could handle a drag strip, beating performance cars of the day. Unfortunately, Ford discontinued the truck following the 2004 model year. For 2018, though, Ford quietly brought back the nameplate. The Special Vehicles Department wasn't on it this time, and it was overshadowed by the Raptor. But it still deserved to be a drag truck.

This Lightning owner let his truck realize its potential, with a bit of help. The truck has a lowered suspension, drag-specific slick tires, and a massive supercharger squeezing all the possible power out of the Lightning V8.

YouTube channel High Tech Corvette captured it running at an event in Texas. There, it's beating modified performance cars and hitting impressive numbers, with a best-shown quarter mile of 9.23 seconds and 146 mph trap speed. Those are supercar levels of speed.

This owner has helped his Lightning reach the potential of the old SVT Lightning. It's an incredibly impressive homage, and a great truck in its own right.
