Watch this Ford GT do what no street legal car has ever done: 300 mph
The first street legal car to hit the 300 mark in a standing mile
This past weekend a Ford GT did what no other street legal car has done in history. A 2006 Ford GT modified by M2K Motorsports made 300.4 mph at the Texas Mile event.
The same car held the previous standing mile record of 293.6 mph, but the builders decided to push it just a bit faster, and did just that. The car has about 2500 horsepower but is still legal for the streets.
The car hit the record mark on its last run at Victoria Regional Airport in Victoria Texas in between San Antonio and Houston. A Ford GT is rated at 205 mph when it leaves the factory. The modified car that made history over the weekend still uses a six-speed manual transmission and has the same 5.4-liter V8 that came from the factory running on methanol. The M2K Motorsports team said the exact horsepower isn’t known because they don’t have access to a dyno that will measure that high.
The sound alone makes this video something to watch. Enjoy.

Meanwhile at Bugatti "BuT mUh TirEs"
Bugatti needs to work every day and in corners. This car just runs one straight run after another until the engine goes boom
Very very different animals. The Bugatti combines luxury and performance. Not to mention it is exceptionally more heavy than this GT so yes, tires absolutely matter.
This is a modified car that probably wouldn't fit...
Read moreThey reported that the biggest challenge to getting the record was finding a small enough american to drive it..
they should have had Hammond lol
No, they want their car to come back in one piece
Wouldn’t want that tailgating me
This is pretty amazing stuff
I didn't expect the first 300 MPH car to be an old GT...... The Ford GT is amazing, but I thought the first 300 MPH road legal car would be the Koenigsegg
Congrats on the achievement!!!!
