Watch: Volvo P1800 Cyan is perfect for playing in the snow
Who said a four-pot Volvo can't be any fun in the snow?
Cyan Racing's modern reinterpretation of the Volvo P1800 is nothing short of a masterpiece on four wheels. From its carbon-fibre bodywork to its S60 TC1 racecar engine, the P1800 Cyan is a 21st century rework of a 60s Swedish icon. Cyan Racing recently took one of their vehicles 620 miles north of their Gothenburg headquarters onto the frozen roads of Åre.
Here the temperature falls below -4˚F (-20˚C), the ice rarely glistens under sunlight and the roads are carved from snow. All of this was no match for the P1800 Cyan though as seen above. Cyan Racing's chief engineer, Mattias Evensson, was quite proud of what his extraordinary vehicle had achieved.
"What really struck me from this expedition was that the car is so easy to drive and that you do not need to provoke it to get it where you want", Evensson stated. "All of the properties that we have tried to achieve were almost amplified by driving it on the low grip of snow and ice".
The P1800 Cyan is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 420hp and 335lb-ft (454Nm) of torque. These may sound like modest figures to some but in a vehicle that weighs less than 2200lbs (1000kg), it is able to achieve 0-62mph in under 5 seconds and handle like a dream. However, whether or not it's worth $500,000 USD is entirely up to you.
