Watch what happens when a Porsche 918 races a Koenigsegg Agera R

To petrolheads and lunatics alike, acceleration is a delicious force that bathes you in its warmth as it crushes you with its brutality. But to the average person, full throttle in some cars can feel more akin to an act of medieval torture. The Porsche 918 would sit in this category.

Capable of achieving 0-124mph in 7 and a bit seconds, the 918 has the ability to make a grown man squeal in fear for his life. It’s a hold-on-tight-and-don’t-let-go sort of car. Something to make you understand what the higher realms of performance feel like first hand. As fast as it is however, there are some machines that can leave it for dead.

The Koenigsegg Agera R is such a machine. With 1115bhp from a 5 litre Twin-Turbo V8, it makes the 887bhp produced by the Porsche’s hybrid drivetrain seem relatively mild. While the Porsche may be a destroyer or giants, the Koenigsegg is an ultimate nullifier capable of pulling away from the 918 like it’s going backwards.

In the video below, we see the 918 and Agera partake in two rolling drag races. In the first (starting at 2:01 into the video), the 918 doesn’t change down quickly enough to launch, allowing the Agera to leap away from it like millennials leap away from commitment. In the second race however (starting a 3:36), the 918 gets the jump, and it’s up to the Agera to reel it in. It’s from this perspective that you get a true sense of the Koenigsegg’s power - which is especially frightening when you consider the Agera R is 226bhp less powerful than the car that broke the production car top speed record.

Finally, I want to ask you guys a question: is there any car right now that you think could present a worthy challenge for a Koenigsegg in a drag race? Let me know in the comments.

  • About what I would expect, Koenigsegg is the best 😁 I love all the supercars, but if I won a mega millions or powerball; I would only buy one supercar for my collection and that would defo be a Koenigsegg.
