We bought a car with the money we made with DriveTribe's Creators Program
And it may just be the world's most beautiful car
Guys, it happened! Last year, my two brothers and I announced that we'd be buying a car with the money we proudly earned with Drivetribe's creators program. We kept our word, and we bought a real car. With it, we'll go on a road trip that promises to be an adventure full of discoveries. All of that will be documented and shared with you on Drivetribe and Instagram, so make sure to give us a follow (link down below). We may not be the top creators on this website, but we still managed to gather enough money to buy a cheap second-hand car worth around CHF 1'000.-, which represents £830, or $1'030. That's not a lot, but still plenty enough.
We spent weeks looking for the perfect car, and since we are three grown-up brothers, we needed something spacious. We were surprised to discover that there are a lot of different opportunities in this price range, and it was complicated for us to reach an agreement. In the end, we knew we wanted a car that stands out, and that struck the world when it came out.
Initially, we wanted you to help us choose the car from a selection we'd put together but then, in a stroke of genius, we found our car, and we just had to go with it.
The Fiat Multipla
Also known as the ugliest (we think it's actually super pretty...) car in the world, the cutting-edge Multipla came out in 1998, and shocked the world. Based on the Brava, the Multipla was Fiat's idea of the perfect family car. Indeed, just like the McLaren F1 (LOL...) the world's ugliest car had three seats in the first row, and, unlike the F1, it had three seats in the back. Genius. Even though the Multipla was shorter than its competitors, it was actually very practical. The six-seats layout was revolutionary in this segment and the cargo space was plenty. On top of that, the Multipla was comfortable, handled beautifully on the road, and was full of practical little details. Honestly, this car is smarter than it looks. No wonder it won Top Gear's Car of the Year in 2000.
Yeat, the looks... Let's face it, even though the car was displayed at the Museum of Modern Arts (MoMA) in New York City in 1999, the Multipla is not a looker. What happened there? Oh, yes, by the way, it also won Top Gear's Ugliest Car of the Year award in 2000. Designer Roberto Giolito maybe thought that people would love its fun and wacky design. Wrong! Actually, most of them hated it, and are still making fun of it to this day. Not even 200'000 units have been produced in six years, which proves it was kind of a flop. That's why we bought it!
Our car
This car is rarer than you'd think. In fact, we only found three on AutoScout24, Switzerland's largest online marketplace for cars. The car was listed at £650, had 2 pairs of wheels, 143K miles (230'000 km) on the odo, and it has been appraised less than three years ago. Which means, we'd be able to register it. When we first saw the car, we immediately fell in love with it. Finished in this exquisite metallic Giallo Chic, the body is actually in great condition, and there's no rust to be seen. It was a first hand car that we found this car in Geneva, Switzerland, and we would like to thank Fab Cars for their help, professionalism, and cheerfulness. They have a bunch of interesting and quirky cars, so make sure to check them out.
You'd think our car was badly equipped. Wrong! It has a state-of-the-art aftermarket JVC radio that let's you plug in a USB cable, and even a 3.5 Jack. Moreover, our car is equipped with parking sensors, electronically adjustable exterior mirrors, and AC. And, everything works like a charm! Might sound a bit precarious, but what else do you actually need? We did a proper photo shooting of the car last weekend. Please enjoy the beauty of this car 😊
Our trip
So, here we are, here's our car. We hope you like it as much as we do, and we can't wait to take it on the road. It already has a name, and a fine one if you ask me. It's named the Golden Beluga, in honor of the animal, that looks like a dolphin with a massive forehead. But we'd love to hear your ideas if you come up with something better.
For our next article, we will focus on our trip. You will actually help us choose where we will be going with the car. Indeed, we will put on the table three very different destinations, and you'll just have to pick where you want us to go.
We know there is a lot to take in, so the "trip part" will be for next time 😉

This is amazing 😂Also your pictures make the Multipla look cool, which is a massive achievement
It's super fun to do a photo shooting of a car that shouldn't deserve one
