We need a car game to have NBA 2K21's MyCareer mode
NBA 2K21's MyCareer mode has me hooked and it would be perfect for a car game.
The NBA Finals are upon us. So naturally as a gamer you queue up NBA 2K21 and digitally get to work.
I have been playing the NBA 2K series since the original NBA 2K on my favorite video game system the Sega Dreamcast. Most of that gaming was either A. playing as my favorite team against whoever or B. playing against friends on local multiplayer. I remember playing the 2K series so early on the Dreamcast that when you achieved a high score or broke some stat that the game would produce some "gift card length" code for you to enter on the computer so you could be ranked against other gamers.
Fast forward to NBA 2K21 and the point of this article, I used to be big on achievement hunting on my Xbox throughout college, but if I get a game I always take a peek at the achievement list. I noticed a majority of the NBA 2K21 achievements are vested in you doing things in MyCareer mode. Okay, let me see what it is about I thought....
I make a generic player with my first and last name, I didn't even care if he looked like me (he doesn't). After building his appearance you then start your career in High School. I thought I would be backing out after the first game, but it had me hooked.
Game after game in High School, then throughout college, then drafted to the NBA. Once in the NBA, you earn endorsement deals in one of the more realistic ways I have seen. It all had me thinking NBA 2K21's MyCareer is an awesome game career mode and we need it in a car game.
Plenty of car games have career modes, but nothing that happens in those career modes would happen in real life. Those career modes are usually the equivalent to driving your first SCCA race and then getting an in game email saying your being picked to drive 24 Hours of Daytona.
Like how NBA 2K21 starts out in High School, in a car game it could start you in karting or in some dirt track racing or grassroots drifting etc. How a car game could also improve is taking the endorsement deal system in NBA 2K21 (which is limited because HS and College players cannot take money) and allow drivers to begin collecting sponsorship deals for their cars. The NBA 2K21 endorsement system is realistic, because the player gets paid ingame currency for an appearance at an event and then X percent discount on products from that company. Much how many grassroots race series operate.
Until 2K Games makes an automotive equivalent to their NBA 2K series I guess I will just have to continue my addiction to the NBA 2K21 MyCareer mode until my player retires...........
