Today a rather unexpected announcement popped up on my phone. Most of the day, I’ve been wondering how to respond to it.
First of all, I’ve seen DRIVETRIBE from both sides: creating content, which I did for a while before settling down and viewing content more recently.
DRIVETRIBE has a legacy much more than the name and content on the site. It has helped to make the next generation of creators, innovators, collaborators, and journalists. We have a great debt of gratitude for the team at DRIVETRIBE, the creators, and (of course) the fans and followers. DRIVETRIBE has witnessed: People grown. People have made new connections, unbreakable connections. People have allowed DRIVETRIBE to be what it is today. The thing that is at the centre of this is PEOPLE. Yes. DRIVETRIBE is closing down and it is awfully sad, but let us not focus on the sadness, let us instead focus on DRIVETRIBE's legacy: you and I.
James MayWe used to wonder how we would find our successors, and actually we've accidentally found a way of doing it perfectly.
In fact, James May said on an App Store Story:
"We used to wonder how we would find our successors, and actually we've accidentally found a way of doing it perfectly."
You and I are the legacy of DRIVETRIBE: we are the creators, the members of different Tribes and communities. We are the voice of change and reason and we have done this throughout many years.
A personal note from me
I joined DRIVETRIBE in April of 2020, and in that year, achieving around one million views on my posts. That is something that I'm proud of. I'm proud that I've been able to share such an interest with fellow car lovers, talk to new people and (sometimes) have debates with others.
Alas, in the past year, for me, DRIVETRIBE has fallen into obscurity. Attempting to balance studies with work is more than enough without adding in visiting friends, and being a content creator for DRIVETRIBE. It became trickier and trickier for me to find time to post and I must say that I am regretful about that. Another regret about not posting is losing contact with many people I worked with, particularly those at Fuel Injection Magazine - which was a project a long while that I was part of.
So without further adieu, I want to thank everyone yet again and we can all be safe in the knowledge that we did something great here. Seriously.
AND YES, WE'VE JUST BEGUN
Unfortunately, DRIVETRIBE will (likely) be known as a failed project by Clarkson, Hammond, and May. But we will all know it as so much more. Those of us enclosed in this glorious Garden of Eden will remember DRIVETRIBE for what it is: a place for people like us to create meaningful change.
There's only one way to end my last post: with the greatest driving song. Ever.

Oh God, Drivetribe closing is sad enough on its own without such touching and honest posts like yours! I'm literally on the verge of tears now 😢 keep up the good work mate. I've really enjoyed reading your stuff, and all the others' who had posted on this platform. I have even created content myself, which was very exciting to try.
And special thanks for Matt Monro, its an akingly beautiful song
